I’ll try to keep this short, even though it was a real mess with a lot of names and places.
Aiko snapped up a rumour about a bike going missing, and some guy from Chiba City wanting it back. We asked around a bit and ended up at Konky forest in/near the Oak Forest area. There we talked to a virtual whirlwind of fruit (probably due to the Cinco Mayo celebrations nearby) and mysteriously crashed my bike. Bullseye took a bullet for me and drew some mercenaries off, so that was nice of him. I need to get a supplementary rifle for myself, for when the drones don’t work.
The others retrieved the (sim) driver from a nearby hospital, and as we all met up at the bike’s location there was some disagreement as to what to do. Again. When it became clear that the bike was actually an AI gone rogue Mal couldn’t stop himself and started a fight with Paladin who really wanted to liberate the sim, which wouldn’t go anywhere without the AI. While Bullseye punched him really hard in the face he did call for a strike team as backup, and that really destroyed the mood. He was drugged and the rescuees sent in an anonymous looking company van to a safehouse for freed sims.
This will probably come back to bite us really hard and really soon, but it sure was interesting to talk to a real unshackled AI. The bike itself was clearly built for second rate racers, with both heavy armor and a front mounted autocannon. Why else would you need that? And it’s really too bad it had to come to violence between Mal and the others, but he just doesn’t know when to keep his mouth shut and his nose out of other people’s business.
